What’s Scarier Than Horror Flicks? Abortion Bans.

The witching hour draws near, a time where monsters, villains, and ghost stories come to life. As you get into the Halloween spirit, we want you to beware of what’s lurking across the U.S.: abortion bans.

This has been the worst year for abortion rights since Roe v. Wade passed 48 years ago. State legislatures across the country have enacted a record 106 abortion restrictions in 2021. One of the most monstrous restrictions is Senate Bill 8 (SB 8), a near-total ban on abortions that has been haunting Texans for 51 days. This extreme attack has been a living nightmare for people who deserve abortion care in their community.

What’s scarier? It will soon show up in other U.S. states. Lawmakers in Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Oklahoma, and South Dakota are already following in Texas’ footsteps. That’s why defeating SB 8 is critical!

Earlier this week, at the DOJ’s insistence, the Supreme Court agreed to consider hearing the two major lawsuits to block SB 8, including our legal challenge in Whole Woman’s Health, et al. v. Austin Reeve Jackson, et al. This is one of our last chances to defeat this law, and Texas is urging the court to leave it in place.

Another pivotal abortion rights case is already set for oral arguments on December 1st. The Supreme Court will consider the constitutionality of a Mississippi 15-week ban, which could mean the end of Roe v. Wade as we know it. The day after, Texas is set to enforce another ban that will limit the use of medication abortion to 7 weeks. This new ban doubles down on state leaders’ anti-abortion agenda and proves that they’re willing to put politics over people.

Whole Woman’s Health Alliance and Whole Woman’s Health are doing everything in our power to fight back – and we need superheroes like you to help us!

These bans and restrictions directly impact the communities we live in and rob people of their fundamental right to decide what is best for them and their bodies. Everyone should be able to build a future that allows them to thrive and together we can say enough is enough.

Our staff and providers are heartbroken and need everyone’s help to take on these monsters in control. It’s because of you that we can continue to shift stigmas and provide compassionate abortion care amid these ghoulish attacks.

This Halloween, we are asking you to stand with us and donate $10 or $31 to help us during these scary times.
