Independent. Patient-Centered. Unapologetic.
Whole Woman’s Health Alliance is an independent, nonprofit abortion provider and advocacy organization. Our mission is one of action: delivering high-quality care, fighting for reproductive freedom, and shifting the culture of stigma surrounding abortion.
At Whole Woman’s Health Alliance, we don’t just provide abortion care—we protect it, expand it, and fight like hell to keep it accessible. Through direct clinic services, policy advocacy, litigation, and public education, we support patients and communities with compassion, dignity, and radical trust. We’re committed to fostering open and honest conversations about abortion, lifting up the communities we serve, and revolutionizing the abortion care environment nationwide.
Our story is rooted in transformation. In 2015, Amy Hagstrom Miller, a longtime leader in independent abortion care and the founder of Whole Woman’s Health, founded the nonprofit Whole Woman’s Health Alliance in the midst of Texas’s devastating legal attacks on clinics via the much-publicized Texas HB2. The first clinics to operate under the new nonprofit were in South Bend, IN, and Austin, TX, quickly followed by expansion to Charlottesville, VA and Minneapolis, MN. The nonprofit structure allowed WWHA to open and operate clinics in regions disproportionately targeted by anti-abortion forces, fundraise to help patients overcome financial and logistical barriers to accessing care, and advocate publicly for abortion rights while providing direct care.
Today, WWHA’s nonprofit clinics in Minneapolis and Charlottesville are serving key communities in the post-Dobbs landscape. Although the fall of Roe v Wade in June 2022 forced us to close our clinics in Texas and Indiana, our dedication to those communities and to the work of keeping abortion accessible remains steadfast. In the past decade we’ve also built a robust program of fundraising, advocacy, litigation, outreach, and education programs to continue our fight for reproductive autonomy, accessiblity, and equity. Those programs are robust in Minnesota and Virginia, and we are committed to growing them in Maryland, New Mexico, Texas, Indiana, and beyond. Together, we’re building a future where every person can access abortion with dignity.
