Our Abortion 101 program is an educational initiative and training program designed to destigmatize abortion care. Abortion 101 trainings, led by members of our staff with clinical experience and expertise, bring members of the community–including legislators, members of the press, and community advocates–into our clinics for a first-hand look at how abortion care is delivered during the first trimester of a pregnancy.
Guided by our facilitators, Abortion 101 participants move through the clinic as patients would, gaining a clear, step-by-step understanding of the abortion care experience—from check-in and paperwork to ultrasound, counseling, and aftercare. Along the way, facilitators explain the purpose of each stage, including how medical histories are reviewed, how gestational age is determined, and how patients are supported in making informed decisions about their care.

Abortion 101 training also introduces participants to the clinical environment, including procedure and recovery spaces, and offers an overview of the different types of abortion care and supportive services available. Throughout the experience, there is time for questions and open discussion, helping to demystify abortion and center the compassion, safety, and intentionality that guide patient care in our clinics. We also offer Abortion 201, a follow-up training session focused on abortion care in the second trimester.
